Weekending - lots of beer and a birthday party

The first part of Good Beer Week (Pint of Origin) finished on Sunday, and it was quite a week. Mainly in beer activities but there were some other fun things thrown in too. So many things! On Monday I went to Richmond Knitters as always - no photos it would be weird to take photos of something I do every week, but maybe I will tonight. On Tuesday we went to The Park Hotel in Abbotsford for Pint of Origin Beers instead our of usual Tuesday trivia, it's fun to mix it up. On Wednesday we toured South Melbourne, visiting three pubs. Thursday we stayed home, which was a nice change, then on Friday Leon and I went to the Local and my parents place for dinner - again no photos, but I really should take photos of those who are dearest to me. On Saturday we celebrated the Richmond Knitters 16th birthday party. I've been going to this group weekly for 14 years, and they are such an amazing, inspiring, lovely group of people. It was a delight to get together and celebrate ourselves! We ha...

A very knitterly weekend

On Friday night / Saturday morning I set my alarm for 1.55am, got up, purchased a Fringe Town Bag in the Cocoa colour and was back on bed by 2.05. I’m very excited for it to arrive. The on Saturday night was the Annual Richmond Knitters Christmas party. This is always a fun event, and it’s nice to get dressed up and spend some time with my knitters on a Saturday night, instead of my more usual Monday night post work mood. I made table decorations, and was really thrilled with the way they came out.  As is turning into a tradition, Dani from HalfBakedHandDyed made us a Richmond Knitter’s Christmas colourway. Look how pretty it is.   On Sunday I went with some friends to Smith and Daughters , a vegan restaurant Northside, that I’ve been wanting to go to for ages, and then rolled even further north to celebrate Katie ’s birthday. And all the time I was knit, knit, knitting away. I’ve got 8 more rounds to go on the front ribbing of Conic. Each row is 500+ stit...

sOcktober - the month that keeps on giving

Sonia , the hostess and founder of the Richmond Knitters decided to run a little competition during sOcktober. She donated a bunch of beautiful prizes, and made up a whole lot of catogories, including "most socks knit". Much to nobodies surprise, I won that category, with six pairs . I chose this yarn as my prize, because it's really pretty. What I didn't realise until I saw it in real life (and you can't see in this photo) is that it has sparkles, and you all know how much I love sparkle yarn. The cat bag was also part of the prize, and it seems so appropriate for me and my cat based lifestyle. I think this yarn would be amazing as part of a two colour shawl - maybe paired with a dark green. Thanks to Sonia for organising, administrating and providing prizes, and all the Richmond Knitters for making it such a fun month. Now i presume this will be my last sOckober post until next year, but you really never know, do you?

Richmond Knitters Christmas party 2017

Last night was the Richmond Knitters Christmas party. As always a good time was had. There were some differences this year - Katherine and Louisa took over the organising from Sonia. As a thank you to Sonia for founding the group and keeping it organised, we all made her a tree ornament. Her face when she was given the box was classic: I made little socks, one for our ornament exchange, and one fore Sonia. Here they are wrapped: And here is the only photo I have of them. So blurry: Dani from HalfBaked Hand Dyed dyed a signature yarn for the group: It's so perfect. Self stripping in colours that I think really represent us. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it, but I know it's going to be fun.  I received this lovely ornament in the exchange, knit by the talented Becs, and Susanne gave everyone little baubles and the pattern and yarn to make a cover for them, but I think it looks really lovely just the way it is:
