This is where I try to sum up 12 days of very disparate holiday in a couple of paragraphs, before the holiday feeling wears off, and the washing finishes. It was, generally speaking a wonderful trip. The weather was beautiful throughout. We started with 4 days at the Grampians Music Festival. We were camping in a mate's back paddock, and it was glorious. They had lots of animals, including a couple of pigs who came to visit.
The festival was very chilled, and there was lots of knitting time, as well as drinking and some dancing - more of some more than the others, depending who you are.
Then we walked 30 kms, from Halls Gap to Stawell.
Skip and Bee offered to drop us off, but we thought it would be fun to hike. Most of it was on roads that seemed more like hiking tracks, and it was a glorious day. My feet were pretty sore by the end - I opted for Cons because my pack was light, but maybe should have gone the hiking boots.
We took the Overland (train) to Adelaide, which is something I've always wanted to do. it was also some glorious knitting time! I finished Leon's scarf in the first couple of days and started making socks with the same pattern on them.
Adelaide was also pretty great. We stayed in an Air BNB, which was perfect except it didn't have a tea pot, which I fixed by buying this glorious specimen:
We went to the Port Markets to see Mel from Stranded in Oz. The place had a rather odd vibe, sort of half empty and flat. Mel explained that it's been slated for redevelopment which makes sense, and made me extra glad I went to see her.
I bought this glorious yarn - the brown is for Leon's winter set 2020, I know it's early, but we both loved it, and after knitting with flat commercially dyed yarn for whole of February it will be glorious to make his next set out of hand dyed, The green sparkle is just because I liked it.
Afterwards we went to Little Bang Brewery (one of 5 breweries we managed on the trip). I love visiting breweries. Good beer, relaxing surrounds, and it makes Leon so very happy.
Catching up with Josh was marvelous. He's finished working in Antarctica, so next year we'll see him in America, and the year after we are thinking of meeting in Hawaii.
I can hear the washing finishing up, and normal every day life calling me back. It was lovely to be on holidays, but every day life has it's charm too. I'll be back here on the weekend, after I've blocked and photographed Leon's winter set 2019.

We went to a bunch of Fringe shows, ranging from circus to cabaret, stand up and just good storytelling. if you want to know more about the individual shows, let me know.
