I don't often have trouble choosing and finishing books, but this week has been all over the place. I DNFd The Night of many Endings, because it was awful, just two dimensional characters and stereotypes. Full review here. I tried to read Amor Towes new book The Lincoln Highway and couldn't get in to it. Changing narrators and I just couldn't settle. Now I'm reading A Discovery of Witches.
I'm about half way through and it's making me squirm. The main character, Diana is a professor and an adult, but just does everything the guy (ok he's a vampire, but that's not the point) tells her to, including when to eat and sleep. And he bodily moved her around. Ick. It's very 50 Shades of Grey. I also started listening to Roots, by Alex Hailey and found it boring and more like "here's a history lesson with names, to try to make it more interesting". So, a very mixed week for reading. I am listening to a new (to me) podcast about The History of English, which I am enjoying.I've been getting a lot of knitting done - the final clue for Shawlography came out last Friday. I can't say I love the border, or the shawl. There is just too much going on. Still, I'll have it finished by Thursday, and I might like it better when it is blocked?
I did get a bunch of knitting done on my knee high socks, which are very fun to knit, so once the shawl is finished I'll concentrate on those.
I was also lucky enough to get a review copy of Super Subversive Cross Stitch by Julie Jackson. While I'm not sure I would describe sweary sayings as "super subversive" these days, this is a fun, interesting book full of cross-stitch how to's, including how to design your own pieces. It's also beautifully presented, and very clear, perfect for those of us who have not done a lot of stitching.
And that's my week in reading, knitting and embroidery. To read my all my book reviews, and to see everything I knit, you can find me on Ravelry as Sharondoubleknit and on GoodReads as Sharondblk.
I'm joining in with Kat from As Kat Knits for Unravelled Wednesday and Kat from the Bookdate for It's Monday, What Are You Reading. Thanks Kat and Kat for hosting these linkups.
I hope you find a book to capture your interest soon.

I'm sorry nothing you tried to read captured your attention. I did read A Discovery of Witches a few years ago and enjoyed it. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
