We're preparing for the Great Ocean Walka six day, 110km unsupported hike, and I like to be thoughtful about this part of preparations, since if you don't have something you can't get it, but if you bring something you have to carry it. This is why I won't be bringing the Swancho on this trip, even though it is going well:
Actually, I don't know if there is six days worth of knitting left it that! I'm taking the light cardigan for my mother that I talked about last week.
As I do all my reading on an e-reader I can take as many books as I need! I used to bike tour before e-readers and I would pick up books as I travelled, and some of them were not good. And I was travelling alone and it was before I knit, so books were important!
I'm currently finishing a NetGalley review copy of Restitution by Tamar Shapiro, a thoughtful story about a family the left East Germany, and the ongoing consequences and choices that led to.
We leave for the hike on Friday morning, and return next Wednesday, so I'll drop by and update how the reading, knitting and hiking went.
To read my all my book reviews, and to see everything I knit, you can find me on Ravelry as Sharondoubleknit and on GoodReads as Sharondblk. I'm on BlueSky as Sharondblk.
I'm joining in with Kat from As Kat Knits for Unravelled Wednesday, Kat from the Bookdate for It's Monday, What Are You Reading and Sam from Taking on a World of Words for WWW Wednesday where we talk about what we are currently reading, what we have just finished and what we are going to read next.
I hope that you have a good hike! I resisted a kindle for such a long time then gave in and I love it! It still hasn't replaced my love of books, but it means that I always have some sort of reading material on me as I have the kindle app on my phone.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
