As well as everything that has been going on in the world, there have been some dramas close to home. Leon's elderly father died last week. The funeral was on Monday, and the whole family (7 children, 12 grandchildren) were there, so it was a sad occasion, but also beautiful. And the church it was held in must have seen me coming, because this window was clearly designed with me in mind.
As I kept promising I signed up for a month of Kobo Plus. My first book was Lavie Tidhar's The Violent Century, which posited that some people got superpowers before World War 2. an alternative history, which I found quite compelling. now I'm reading King Cal by Peter McDade, and loving the plot, wanting to know what happens, and also finding it quite plodding and repetitious, and the relationships don't resonate with me. After this I'll either take a turn and go back to romance (Penny Reid's The Prom King) or read V.E. Schwab's Vicious, which sounds like it shares some themes with The Violent Century.
In knitting I kept knitting Pentapus until I had 12, and then I decided to stop for the moment. These are so cute and such fun, but they are a little hard on the hands, with all those bobbles!
The next few days will also be quite busy with Passover, but at least we get public holidays for Easter at the same time. Chag sameach to those who celebrate, happy Easter to those who celebrate that and to everyone else, i hope you get a long weekend like we do in Australia - four days off! I hear in New Zealand they get the Tuesday too.
To read my all my book reviews, and to see everything I knit, you can find me on Ravelry as Sharondoubleknit and on GoodReads as Sharondblk. I'm on BlueSky as Sharondblk.
I'm joining in with Kat from As Kat Knits for Unravelled Wednesday, Kat from the Bookdate for It's Monday, What Are You Reading and Sam from Taking on a World of Words for WWW Wednesday where we talk about what we are currently reading, what we have just finished and what we are going to read next.
