First world problems

I'm jumping around right now, unable to make my mind up about ANYTHING. I received a box on Wednesday, with the yarn for Stasis

The yarn is beautiful, but I don't think I want to start another jumper for myself, when my previous jumper is still blocking (I'll take photos sometime over the weekend).

I was going to knit a Carraig Fhada Kate Davies colourwork  vest, but then I realised that I won't get much wear of that until autumn. I had finally settled on a long laceweight cardigan. But then Kate sent me a pattern for a pair of mitts she designed. But they are in 3 ply, and I don't have any of that in my stash. Also, to add to my mental disarray, sign ups for Kate Davies new club start tonight. Too much happening, so many choices.
In a related note, after the addition  of this yarn, my stash stands at 13,639 meters, pretty much unchanged from my previous count of 13,695. I have done an awful lot of knitting for a stash reduction of 60 meters!

Yarnlaong - the one where it is June

Funnily enough, this month I'm reading Golden Fool the second book in the Tawny Man trilogy. Last month I was reading the first. I have actually read some other books in between! If youw ant to follow my reading, you can find me on Goodreads as Sharondblk.
I am knitting the Kate Davies vest Carraig Fhada. I've had the yarn for it since the beginning of 2017, and i can't believe it's taken me this long to start it. I'm knitting it in the specified yarn, Kate Davies' Buchaille, and loving it.  It's such a fun knit: beautiful yarn, intuitive pattern with a great rhythm to it.
This weekend is a long weekend here (Queen's Birthday, even though it isn't, biologically speaking, the Queen's birthday)
I am looking forward to going in to the three day weekend with such a compelling book and fun knitting project on the go. There will, of course, also be some running, some socialising and a lot of sleeping, but it's the reading and knitting that I'm lo…

Yarnalong - the one where it's May

I know I shouldn't be surprised at the normal passing of time, but I am! Especially since I missed April's yarnalong because I was on holidays in Scotland

Now, as if to continue that holiday for as long as possible, I am knitting Kate Davies' Highland Rogue scarf for Leon, in Scottish yarn that I bought at Edinburgh Yarn Fest. It's nearly done - currently about a metre seventy, I think I'll knit until that ball of yarn is finished.

Off the Scottish theme, I'm reading, or rather re-reading, Robin Hobb's Fool's Errand, the first book of the second Fitz trilogy.I'm just loving it. I don't remember anything from last time - about 15 years ago - but Fitz is no longer a whiny teenager, but an approaching middle aged man. I'm glad I'm enjoying it, it took me a while to find a good book this time. i actually DNFd a novel by my favourite romance author - I found I just didn't care about romance, and I struggled through an urban fantasy set in…

The yarn along is back!

Ginny is now doing yarnalong monthly, and I am so excited! Pop over there to see what everyone is up to this month:

It's actually good, because my reading has been all over the place. After finishing Royal Assassin I read a trilogy of  Christmas stories set in Rachael Herron's Darling Bay. these were, of course, delightful. Then I started a review copy for a book called

Eventually I settled down into The Sultan's Wife by Jane Johnson. I'm enjoying it - set in Morocco, so far it seems like a sort of romance between a eunuch and  a captured English woman.

The knitting is going well. After finishing Stasis jumper, I decided to make a pair of socks using the same yarn and motif: pretty, straightforward and simple. Loving it so far.

In the absence of the Yarnalong, I've taken to linking up with "It's Monday, what are you reading" over at The Book Date. There is a marked absence of knitting, but it's a good place to see what other people are reading.
