For no discernible reason I have come down with a case of the hives. They itch worse when I'm at home, so I reckon I'm allergic to lockdown! Anyway, Telfast is helping, and that was the most exciting thing to happen this week. Well, that and that spring is here and the sun is shining. It's light earlier and dark later, and I have the time to notice.
I'm knitting a Yorlin by Kate Davies cardigan for my mother. At the last minute I decided to knit it in the round and steek it, because it's so much easier for me. It's quite fun so far, lots of stocking stitch, with a bit of simple lace. It's taking a while - it took me six days to get the yoke done, but I'm trying to be in less of a hurry. Also, i'm spending time I would have used for knitting spinning, because spinning is just very relaxing to me right now.
I'm reading The Garden of Hopes and Dreams by Barbara Hannay and it's the reading equivalent of a slice of cream cake. Just delicious. It's about a group of people who live in a mid-sized Brisbane apartment block. At the beggining they do't know each other and all have various relationship issues. It's fairly obvious where it's going, but I'm loving it. it's just so NICE. I was planning a trip to Brisbane for the festival later this month, but lockdown says no, so I'll have to stay home and read good books instead.
On the way back from the pharmacy yesterday we walked down a graffiti strewn ally that I haven't been down before - and given that we have been endlessly walking these streets for the last 18 months it's rare to find a new street. i found this story, and I'm obsessed:
(It says: Whenever I'm feeling particularly anxious about something I go to the supermarket and shoplift avocados with no subtlety at all. I stand in liner with my tight white top, with a huge bulge on my shoulder, one near my elbow and 3 on my hip....and I act smooooth. Then by the time I arrive home, the shoplifting anxiety has outweighed the old problem and I'm feeling fine again.)
And that's my week in reading and knitting. To read my all my book reviews, and to see everything I knit, you can find me on Ravelry as Sharondoubleknit and on GoodReads as Sharondblk.
I'm joining in with Kat from As Kat Knits for Unravelled Wednesday and Kat from the Bookdate for It's Monday, What Are You Reading. Thanks Kat and Kat for hosting these linkups.
Not sure that would work for me, I hate avacado;)
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great reading week
