I'm knitting *Xara* socks out of left overs from my Lace and Fade Boxy. I love knitting things that match, and I love using up all the yarn!
The technique involves helical stripes (my favourite!) slip stitches and 1x1 cable crosses and [produces a very effective result. It's not very stretchy, so the leg starts on 80 stitches, and it's pretty slow because of all the cable crosses, but it is very pretty.
I'm reading a NetGalley review copy of Mr Breakfast by Jonathan Carol.
It's a bit of a Sliding Doors concept, with the Graeme Patterson, our main character being given the ability to choose between three versions of his life. I loved the first half, but it's getting a bit jumpy and incohesive, with a lot of diversions and random rambles that go nowhere and I kind of just want it to be over.
I've also started the audio of The Tsar of Love and Techno. I've only listened to the first "story" - apparently they are interlinked short stories. I loved the first one, and am looking forward to seeing where it goes.
Unfortunately having to work for a living does cut into my crafting and reading time - but provides me with the resources to buy the good stuff, so it all comes out even in the end.And that's my week in reading and knitting. To read my all my book reviews, and to see everything I knit, you can find me on Ravelry as Sharondoubleknit and on GoodReads as Sharondblk.
I'm joining in with Kat from As Kat Knits for Unravelled Wednesday and Kat from the Bookdate for It's Monday, What Are You Reading. Thanks Kat and Kat for hosting these linkups.
Work gets in the way of my hobbies as well. I hate it! Your books do sound like fun.
ReplyDeleteI love the title of The Tsar of Love and Techno. Definitely sounds unique.
ReplyDeleteMy It's Monday! What Are You Reading? post.
I had The Tsar on my TBR for a long time, but never read it. Maybe I'll look for the audio.
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, working does eat up a frustratingly lot of time, but a paycheck is nice to have. I had MLK Jr. Day off today, though, and was still very late with my Monday blog post!
Fun title! Have a great week of reading. My latest is here:

The only reason I get any knitting in these days is because in the evenings I am too tired to read. Instead, these days I am watching Vera and working on socks. Mine are not nearly as fancy as yours!
