Princess Daisy has been with me for a very long time, since she was a kitten and I was a single lady about town, so I was feeling quite fragile. Even though I'm not usually a mood reader, I decided not to read a tense thriller, and settled instead for Charlene Carr's Behind Our Lives. Charlene's books are like chocolate pudding - delicious and comforting, and this was no exception.
Then Kate Davies announced her new Summer of Mystery club, which includes a book club component. We are reading 10 golden age detective fiction books by Margery Allingham. Even thought the club hasn't started yet I decided to get reading. We are starting with book 5 - Sweet Danger. Usually I would start at the beginning, but I think 10 books from a series in four months is plenty, so I'm only going to read the prescribed 10. If I love them I'll read the rest later. I'm only a 5th of the way through, but so far it's a wild, but cosy, ride.
After this I will either go back and read What Happened to Nina, or my next NetGalley review book - Under a Neon Sun by Kate Gale. This is a pandemis book, and I do love (generally) love those.
The knitting did go to plan, with my Rose Cardigan (sort of) over half way through. It's made up of four quadrants, plus a collar, bottom band and sleeve cuffs and I have finished two and a half quadrants. I'm very happy with how it's knitting up:
And that's my week. I hope things are going happily to plan for you.
To read my all my book reviews, and to see everything I knit, you can find me on Ravelry as Sharondoubleknit and on GoodReads as Sharondblk.
I'm joining in with Kat from As Kat Knits for Unravelled Wednesday and Kat from the Bookdate for It's Monday, What Are You Reading. This week I'm also linking up with Sam from Taking on a World of Words to for WWW Wednesday where we talk about what we are currently reading, what we have just finished and what we are going to read next.
I'm very sorry to hear about Princess Daisy :(
