I think I've got everything ready for our Sri Lanka trip. We're leaving on Friday morning. My bags are packed and most importantly I've got the relevant books loaded up on my reading device. I've started The Hungry Ghosts by Shyam Selvadurai .
Then I've got The Seasons of Trouble by Rohini Mohan. I even found an audio book already on my app that has somethignt o do with Sri Lanka, although it is set in Sydney - Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens by Shankari Chandran.
All that said a lot of books set in Sri Lanka are fairly depressing - very focussed on the civil war and it's effects. I have yet to find a Sri Lankan rom-com. So, if it all gets a bit much I'll return to listening to The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros,
a fairly harmless romance, and pick something cheerful off the mainly books that are hanging around on my reading device. I adore being able to carry as many books as I could possibly want on holidays with me. When I was 23 I went to France for a week by myself with nothing but a day pack, containing 7 books, a teddy bear and (presumably) some clean underwear.
I have also cast on for the jumper I'm taking on this trip.
It's an oversize 4ply (fingering) weight jumper knit on 3mm needles, so I think there will be plenty of knitting to keep me busy for the holiday - which is only two and a half weeks. It should have plenty of knitting time, and this largely plain garment seems like it will be a very relaxing thing to knit. I'm a tiny bit nervous, because the pattern released relatively recently and there is only one finished object on Ravelry, but it all seems clear enough. To read my all my book reviews, and to see everything I knit, you can find me on Ravelry as Sharondoubleknit and on GoodReads as Sharondblk.
I'm joining in with Kat from As Kat Knits for Unravelled Wednesday and Kat from the Bookdate for It's Monday, What Are You Reading. This week I'm also linking up with Sam from Taking on a World of Words for WWW Wednesday where we talk about what we are currently reading, what we have just finished and what we are going to read next.
