Last week was a rollercoaster of emotions. On Friday night our head Crossfit coach posted some stuff on his personal Facebook, and then shared it to to the Crossfit group. It was nonsense that we don't agree with, including that "the government should set an acceptable mortality rate and tell us the plan out of here" and that he doesn't believe in lockdowns. Even though we knew he felt this way, these are not our values, and we don't want to be associated with a group who espouses those values. We believe in acting as a society to protect everyone, and that people are real and important and that "the economy" is a construct, and a flawed one at best. On Saturday morning he had removed it from the group. We emailed him on Sunday night, and by Monday morning he had also removed it from his personal feed. Exhausting.
Then on Wednesday the tradies on my building site had a radio. It wasn't loud, but it rumbled up through the walls all day. The walls are one thin layer of plaster, since all the cladding is currently off. I had back and forwards with the site manager about it, as has been going on for months. Then I emailed the engineer who is running things from the parent company. On Thursday the banned radios on the scaffolding because "they were sick of getting phone calls about it". Mainly from me I imagine.
On Friday we came home from "the gym" (the park where we work out) and the tradies on the roadworks were celebrating R&B Fridays. Last week the conflict with those tradies led to the police being called (not by me or on me!). I rang VicRoads about it, and got a call from ththose tradies employer, saying they were banning radios because "he was sick of getting calls about it".
So getting stuff sorted out on all fronts, but thoroughly exhausting. Which is to say, this weekend has been blissfully quiet. Which it was always going to be, since we are only allowed to leave home for an hours exercise each day. I did the last of the dying for my next project - a pair of leggings, with some extra for the sock yarn blanket, and we cleaned the house, went for a run and generally unwound. Hopefully next week will be quieter and calmer.
