As promised - I'm numbering these posts, rather than trying to think up clever names. If I was thinking up clever names, it would be "the one where everything is finished". I've just finished reading my first book and first review book of the year Sidelines by Karen Viggers.
It's a parenting drama and I'm really not sure how I feel about it. I think the characters are meant to be complex, but to me there were largely unlikable, which did not give me anything to hang my emotions on so it all felt a bit wooden. Not a bad book though.
Next I am reading a Cheryl Strayed short Two Women Walk Into a Bar. It's a mini-memoir also available for free on Amazon Kindle Unlimited. And then I'm going back to Victoria Goddard withThe Return of Fitzroy Angursell. I'm excited to find out what happens. I'm a little bit obsessed.
In knitting I am also between projects. I finished Katie's Boxy last night. Now it just needs a couple of ends sewn in and blocking.
Next up is St Catherines, a stripy shrug by Kate Davies. And that's the first week of our fresh new year! I hope yours has had good books and fun crafts (if you are that way inclined).
To read my all my book reviews, and to see everything I knit, you can find me on Ravelry as Sharondoubleknit and on GoodReads as Sharondblk.
I'm joining in with Kat from As Kat Knits for Unravelled Wednesday and Kat from the Bookdate for It's Monday, What Are You Reading. This week I'm also linking up with Sam from Taking on a World of Words to for WWW Wednesday where we talk about what we are currently reading, what we have just finished and what we are going to read next.
That Boxy is glorious -- what an amazing gift!
ReplyDeleteSomeone looks happy with her sweater! What a fantastic gift. Thanks for the mention of Cheryl Strayed's short memoir. I've read her books but hadn't seen this one. (Having a strained relationship with my MIL, it intrigues me.)
ReplyDeleteI like your new system for naming posts. I usually just date them. Great looking sweater! Your books are new to me and sound interesting. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteKids sport always seems to include sideline drama!
ReplyDeleteI love the pattern for that shrug, it looks very cool and sophisticated.
Wishing you a happy reading week
