On Friday after work we headed up to Bendigo for Bendigo on the hop, a beer festival we have been to (I think) three times before. This year it was just me and Leon, so we took ourselves out for a fancy dinner before going to bed early. We knew Saturday was going to be a big day.
On Saturday morning we got up (always a good start!) and ran 15 kms. We didn't realise that the canal path doesn't actually go far enough for that distance, so we got to do a lap of the lake on the way back.
Then we cleaned up and got some breakfast and headed to the woollen mill. Last week Kate Davies released a cardigan pattern and I had that in mind when I was shopping. I got this stunning yarn - it's a dark teal and had a strand of shiny, although it's not sparkle yarn. I got the "recycled fibre" wool as the contrast colour. I suspect it's made of the scraps from the mill floor, and I really like it.
I also picked up a kilogram of fibre from the backroom, because it was cheap ($45) and will be fun to dye...once I finish my current project, which might be a while away, since I haven't had much time to spin.
We dropped the shopping at the hotel and headed off for beer. The way this festival works is that you get half pours of different beers at different venues around town. There is food to be purchased and friends to be made. It's pretty friendly and we often see the same people as we move from venue to venue. This year's scary award goes to this swan (fittingly in the Black Swan venue).
We had time to stop mid afternoon for coffee and crepes. Afternoon tea is my favourite meal!
After we finished the pub crawl, we had one more beer, got some dinner and ended the very fun day dancing with strangers at the Piano Bar. Luckily I was sensible enough to call it after one last drink!
Today we woke up feeling ok, had breakfast at our favourite breakfast place, bought some ties for Bad Tie Monday and headed back home. A really fun weekend spent with my favourite person doing some of my favourite things!
